Ixtapa
Zihuatanejo is a town with beach resorts located in the municipality in the Mexican state of Zihuatanejo de Azueta de Guerrero. It is located 5 km (3.1 miles) northwest of the municipal capital, Zihuatanejo and some 245 km (152 miles) northwest of Acapulco, in the Costa Grande region of the state. In keeping with the tradition of naming new tourist destinations in Mexico with names in native languages, in honor of the ancestors, the word "Ixtapa" is chosen from the Nahuatl language meaning "white place" in reference to its white sands.
